Customizing your resume doesn't mean rewriting it every time you apply for a new job. List all of your experience, skills, and qualifications on a template, then remove irrelevant ones for each new job. You have to customize your resume to the job opening. Targeting your resume to the job shows the hiring manager you're familiarized yourself with the job description and know how to prioritize the most relevant information.

Your experience doesn't change. However, the way you present your experience to a company looking for a detail-oriented candidates versus a company that values communication skill will differ.

Don't add every life experience to your resume! If the job posting doesn't mention certification, then they don't need you to include it on your resume. Use a chronological resume, HR departments love chronological resumes because they:

  • show career progression
  • can be used by job seekers of all skill levels and industries
  • are so commonly used that they're easy to understand

Remember that your work experience is your greatest selling point and to choose a font that is easy to read! I hope these tips helped :) #Resumes #Advice #Wordsofadvice #Jobsearch

This question speaks to me. I know what my intentions are, but more and more I am uncertain of others’ real intentions. It isn't simple to know another person's intentions.

I’ve been searching all over, websites, lists of hiring places, and even gone to plenty of stores around me. No where has given me an answer. # #jobsearch #wordsofadvice

Hi Dianna,

Try food & beverage, hotels, grocery stores, boy & girls clubs, YMCA, etc.

I would try the food service industry, like fast food places, or retail stores first. Also hostessing at restaurants is a great job for a high school student to start out with, and gives them an 'in' to the industry if they want to try serving when they're old enough.

It is always exciting to start working in a new restaurant; new faces and a new environment always make us feel good starting in our new place.

At the same time, learning about the new menu, new drinks, and different customer types can make us overwhelmed.

Training shouldn’t be overwhelming for new servers since the restaurant you work that a good training program.

  • The first day of the training; should introduce the location of the coolers, dry storage, sections, and coffee room. The rest of the shift should be following around experienced servers and seeing the environment and how that works.

  • The second day of the training should be at the expo. Running food helps to learn table numbers and what the dish looks like. End of the shift, a trainer should be testing some of the popular dishes at the restaurant.

  • The third day of the training should be behind the bar with the bartender. An experienced bartender can explain the signature cocktails ingredients, wines, beers, and refreshers.

  • The fourth day of the training should be introducing the POS system. The trainer server should take notes of all the orders and place the order on the POS system with the experienced server's observation. It helps to learn the POS system faster.

  • On the last training day, a new server should start taking tables under the experienced server observation.

I believe these steps follow by a training program. The new server is ready to start without any overwhelm.

So, I'm a convicted felon right, all these work-from-home places I'm finding do background checks. Is there anywhere that doesn't discriminate? Is it even going to be possible to get this type of job? Why does your past have to define you? I really need some income!! #jobsearch #interview #advice #wordsofadvice #felonies #application

I have always found this question to be odd. Yes, you can be fired from any job and in any state. Will there be repercussions? It depends on the state and/or the reason.

Starting a new ANYTHING can be nerve wracking 😅, but starting a new job can sometimes feel like the biggest change we can make in our lives!! It affects so much of our day-to-day and can influence a lot of our overall happiness!

It’s natural to want a new role to be the right fit and worry about future challenges that will come with it, but over time and with experience, it gets easier to dive into something new!

Whats the best advice you’ve gotten when starting a new job? Whats one thing you wish you did differently from the start?? How do you know when things are finally going smoothly there and you’re all settled in? ✨

I just try to keep in mind that everyone is new at some point. Relax, be yourself, ask questions, pay close attention during training, take notes and try to connect with fellow co-workers. And remember they hired you for a reason.

It's an unprecedentedly fertile job market right now for employees. Take advantage of it while you can! Not to doomsay, but it certainly won't last forever.

Greetings, I've struggle with my mental health regarding assimilation to a predominantly Western culture, and dealing with the ramifications of the Pandemic and being an ethnic minority. Either people think I'm a criminal by appearance, or they make worse statements to my face or behind. I've had every uncomfortable statement made by others, and been told I couldn't do something due to my skin and gender and also sexual comments while in public and in the workforce. I usually ignore people's words, but I find myself being unable to stand it anymore. #wordsofadvice

SOME OF THE KINDEST PEOPLE ON EARTH COME FROM A BACKGROUND OF HURT & ABUSE. SOME OF THE MOST GENEROUS PEOPLE ON EARTH COME FROM A BACKGOUND OF POVERTY. SOME OF THE SMARTEST PEOPLE ON EARTH COME FROM A LACK OF EDUCATION & SCHOOLING. FACT. FACT. FACT. This is not Debatable...May God Bless You. #motivation #wordsofadvice #advice
