Imagine a world where all job listings have the wage or salary range displayed. Think of all the hours you could save by knowing the pay is too low for what you need -- before you put hours into #resumes and #applications.

THE GOOD NEWS: Some states are making this law. In most cases, the objective of the new rules is to narrow the gender wage gap: If companies are obliged to publish salaries, they will find it harder to underpay women. But more generally, young employees will benefit from knowing what they and their peers are paid.

Salary transparency has been a trending concept over the past 10 years, do you think this will be common in the next 10 years? #jobsearch #WageTransparency #NoMoreGames

I need help creating a resume. I've been receiving Social Security Disability since 1989. I am a dedicated worker, but I have a little fear of returning to work do to possibly not feeling like I just can't perfom as well I should. But then, quitters never win, right. So I'm back and ready to work.

Does video resume work? (YES, NO, or MAYBE)

Video #resumes are a way for candidates to go beyond traditional methods of applying, such as submitting only a resume, cover letter, and work samples. Lasting typically 60 seconds, these videos are your shot to make the best first impression on an employer. A #videoresumes lets the employer literally see you and hear your case (via your communication skills, personality, and charisma) as the best candidate for the job - all before the #interview takes place.

I think it depends on the employers. Some employers only spend 6 seconds to browse a resume so the video resumes might not work. But if it's more creative job that they want to see your other skillsets... maybe.

I'm telling you the truth...

People sitting in the bleachers of your life will try to discourage you by saying things like...

  • It's not possible.
  • You can't make it.
  • You're not qualified.
  • You must be kidding.
  • You don't have a degree.

Do you want that job? Then, YOU have to "step-up to the plate" and knock the ball out the park.

Then, everything else will fall-in-place.

I Believe You Can...!

I had a great phone interview today with a very nice recruiter for a job that paid A LOT less than I was making. I told her I’m not concerned about the pay. I’m looking for a job that I can apply my knowledge and skills to. I even asked her, what about my resume prompted you to interview me. She said it was extremely well written (it ought to be. I’ve revised it 1,000 times!), and it showed that I can do projects from start to finish. She said she has a meeting on Tuesday with the hiring manager and she would tell him how great my resume is and that we had a good talk. I could expect to hear from her on Wednesday. I logged onto my dashboard tonight and saw that my status had changed to Interviewed:Not selected. WTH!

The employer or recruiter has your resume, but still expects you to fill out a long job application, or visa versa. They have your job application, but also want a Resume or CV. Seems like its like they are checking off boxes even if the request is a waste of time for you and them. Sort of like a teacher who sends home, home work for the sake of home work. Even if its not related to the work done in class.
