My experience working there was the best experience I could have asked for. Everyone was like family you could move around just about anywhere within the company, and they helped to make that happen for you if you wanted. The goal I set for myself when I started working their I achieved, it was the best company you could work for I have no regrets of my career there they took care of me and my family and I thank them for that. I bought a t-shirt for my son when he was born that quoted Southern Bell Baby and all my kids wore that shirt and that’s been 35 years ago. So I was a dedicated union worker again thank you AT&T for a great career!!!

I was given the opportunity to learn and excel and I was treated with respect at all times. I was always made to feel like my opinion mattered and was important to the mission in providing the services that our customers expected. I was given the leeway to make important decisions that impacted the manner in which our office was run whether in the central office or customer billing.

Well, I’ve just moved to Chicago 6 months ago. During this time, I managed to get into an apprenticeship program for young adults and it was going so well for me, it was something I enjoyed and fun. Now as it comes to the end, I’m only offered a sales position at a retail store (AT&T) and they have so many other partners. I’ve been in retail and corporate sales before, so in my head, I’ve wasted my time not to mention the AT&T I was put at is a 2 hour commute taking the CTA for me. Now, I’ve wasted 6 months and I’m looking for different jobs at the moment. I have friends that help and an interviews coming up as well but I just wish I started this when I first moved here. It’s more of a frustration with myself because I wish I did job hunting instead now.
